Disable Scribbles
Started By
I wish there was an option on my profile to disable scribbles. I don't really like getting a message telling me I have another message somewhere else. Sometimes I see that and go, 'I'll look at it later' then forget. And have an angry message because I never responded. That and the fact I have slow internet having to load two pages to check one message is a bit tedious, more so when I get 6 in rapid succession.

Therefore, I think an option to disable scribbles on your profiles would be wonderful. There could be a message in the scribble area saying:
"This member has disabled profile scribbling, would you like to message them instead?"
[with the message them instead being a link to message them]

That way, people who wanted to opt out could, and people who like them can have them, and everyone can be happy.

I support this.<br /> <br /> But if Ev disabled scribbles I can't get around her things. ;o;<br /> <br /> But yeah. I was thinking about having all my scribbles deleted for a nice clean page..but I have too many to delete and don't want anymore. c.c<br /> I also hate random scribble advertisements.

<i>"The problem I see though, is if the player disables the messages, and their message box is full, how could anyone talk to them?<br /> <br /> Just something to think about, otherwise, I support!"</i><br /> <br /> They clear their inbox, simple :)

I wish scribbles were able to be disabled for all staff. hngh

I support. But I do find one flaw.<br /> <br /> There are users who don't frequently delete their messages, so their messages are full. And people notify users about that by scribbles. <br /> And if a mod needs to talk to that user, how would they be able to message them?<br /> <br /> Perhaps a...sort of button that sends a notification message to that specific user, saying that their messages are full, and they are requested to delete them. :)

Support! One time someone replied to a scribble alert message but I didn't know, I just delete them when it says Scribble Alert. XD

Support! <br /> <br /> Another thing I would add is the option to turn the notification messages off, those are annoying. :L

I SUPPORT THIS! I hate people who scribble you about something when you specifically say for them to message you, I hate that!

Support. I hate how you have to have to delete two things...

SUPPORT!!!! There should be a way for admins and mods to override it though if a players message box is full.

I agree with Artex. There are some things that don't need to be brought to the issue hub that the mods should be open to dealing with quickly and efficiently. <br /> <br /> I thought the commentary on the players' perception of moderators was also highly true, not that I'm expecting anyone to openly admit it. <br /> <br /> My inbox is almost perpetually full. I'm honestly too lazy to clear out pages upon pages of messages because the "delete all" option only works on one at a time. Most people scribble me instead, and there's no limit on scribbles. <br /> <br /> I've also found mods and admins commonly have full mailboxes. If you're trying to contact one person specifically, how are you to do it?

To Artex,<br /> <br /> Please also consider that sometimes a user will scribble issues on my page [such as reporting a player.] This means anyone can see the issue which <i>should</i> be private. I think its a bit more rude that I have to delete it. Then it looks like I just don't care about helping them :C<br /> <br /> Frankly, all mod issues should go through the issue hub, so on staff pages maybe it would be good to have a 'submit an issue' link too? So that users would have a good way of contacting staff through the proper channels?

I posted a similar suggestion a while ago - to get a message telling you you have a scribble is rather redundant and a waste of time. Scribbles can be useful to some as can messages so I don't think we should disallow them however an option to turn off scribbles would be nice. At the very least I'd like to get rid of the message that you have a scribble and just get a scribble alert.

I think I'm going to be the oddball with this... but I do not support, at least to the terms you've described.<br /> <br /> As a Moderator, especially, I think you should be open to all means of communication. Even if you'd rather a private message... simply denying scribbles is not a very "neighborly" thing to do, and certainly strengthens the (wrong) stereotype of site staff members being persnickety.<br /> <br /> If the feature were to produce an option as to whether or not you would like to <i>receive the <u>alerts</u></i> through message form, I would support.<br /> <br /> <b>-Artex</b>
